New Hampshire Marble

How to drill cultured marble:

  • CAUTION: Be sure to wear eye protection and a dust mask when drilling, cutting or sanding cultured marble.
  • The first thing you want to do is mark the center of the location that you want to drill. We recommend marking the spot with a grease pencil. After you have marked the spot, double-check your measurement! Drill from the finished side of the product, so that when the drill breaks through the other side it does not chip the finished side. Use a holesaw bit that fits the size of the hole you are creating. Most faucet drillings require a hole that is 1 1/4 inches. Holesaws for wood will work, but carbide tiped holesaws are ideal for this project.
  • Rock the drill back and fourth a little bit as you drill the top. This will make it easier to remove the cultured marble from the holesaw.

  • Make sure that the top is supported, so that you do not tip it over and damage the top, or injure yourself!

  • Drill from the front of the product.

  • Do not lean all of your weight on the product. Let the drill do most of the work. If you slip and land on the product, you could crack it!
  • Be careful when removing the dust from drilling. If the dust is rubbed into the product surface aggressively, it can act like sandpaper and leave marks on the product.
  • Do not panic if the drilled hole does not match the other holes exactly, the plate from the faucet or soap pump will allow you to cover some variation.
